While Project Heracles was a stunning success, fleet command deemed it too expensive for mass production. However taking the lessons learned from the Fenris and Leviathan classes, Fleet Command designers took the Heracles spaceframe and stripped off some of its armour and armament, especially the more expensive variety. Eventually this stripped down Light Frigate was deemed cost effective to mass produce and the Aeolus was born. While lighter and lacking the punch of its sibling the Aeolus is not to be underestimated, it sports twin forward beam cannons, port and starboard anti fighter beams, four flack guns giving it one-hundred percent flack coverage and six medium pulse turrets. Aeolus’s are expected to become the standard screening and picket ship in the fleet as it expands.
