The Defender is the smallest ship designed by the Soben faction of the Apex caste, designed to support medium warships or to act as system patrol craft, defenders were never designed to be warships in their own right. While they have the almost organic looking Orinchum armour plating that is emblematic of all the Soben designed ships, the Defender’s is very thin, though coloured in such a way that visual targeting is hard. None the less these ships are reliable, armed with a dozen light photon accelerators in addition to the large proton beam accelerators that extend from the ship like mandibles and are a threat to capital ships. Many times a Defender has been underestimated before it has bested its foe. Defenders are captained by either member of the Manii Caste or eccentric and/or disgraced members of the Foundation Caste.</div>Bubble Wrap
