The Hermes is a relatively new fighter that’s still finding its feet and roll in fleet operations. Originally designed as a successor to the Hercules fighter that was starting to show its age, the Hermes faced several redesigns after prototypes did not live up to expectation, indeed when the UCXF-17 was unveiled the Hermes was still in development, and this resulted in even more redesigns as the XF-17 proved to be a far more capable replacement to the Hercules. What the Hermes ended up becoming was a heavy interceptor; its firepower was scaled back for the addition of several more powerful engines bringing to total up to six, positioned in such a way to give the fighter incredible manoeuvrability, in some cases surpassing the Mk 3 Perseus’ but able to carry heavier munitions as well. Just how well the Hermes fairs in actual combat has yet to be seen however.
