The Heracles was CARA’s answer to the fragility of the Fenris, and perhaps has a slight hint of the Leviathan in its design as the two were on the drawing board at the same time. The projects stated goals were to deliver a heavy screening ship for fleet operations and bases as well as an in the field fighter command post, and the prototypes produced exceeded all expectations, out massing any warship the Confederacy has encountered to date and sporting the Flack Gun, a weapon devolved during it’s design phase to give it wonderful strikecraft suppressing (if not actual killing) power, the Heracles mounts four double turrets of these, along with six heavy double pulse batteries, two beam cannons, three anti-fighter beams and it’s second revolutionary weapon, a spinally mounted mass acceleration cannon, letting it punch well above its weight class. Indeed the Heracles was too good, and it had a cost to match which caused Fleet Command to par it down to the Aeolus variant for mass production. The Heracles still sees limited production however, currently serving as flag and command ships among the fleet.
