The Warspite’s designers were from the Natree faction of the Apex Caste, while impressed by their Soben rivals fast striking designs, they believed that none of the lighter warships had the staying power required for long term large scale fleet battles, to that end they designed the Warspite to compliment the Soben fleet. By most Empires standard the Warspite is tiny for a CL-4, yet it packs one hell of a punch for it’s size, being little more then armour around a reactor core, brisitling with gun emplacements on every available surface. Given their surprising durability and speed for their size, Warspite’s are commonly underestimated or classed as ligher vessals, much to the chagrin of enemy commanders who finally see them on the battle field. In addition to it’s several dozen heavy photon accelerators and half a dozen heavy proton beams, the Warspite offers similar hanger space to the Soben. Warspites are captained exclusively by members of the Foundation Caste.
