The Redemption was the first attempt by the Forgotten to craft their own heavenship. The design was based off depictions of early heavenships used by the Ancestors, adapted to fit with the technology and resources available to the Forgotten. The Redemption itself was constructed piece by piece in orbit, its component parts carried up by Angels, however the resources gathered by the early Redemption missions allowed the Architect to construct the remaining vessels.
As an exploration ship, the Redemption is lightly armed. It has four turrets, two dorsal and two ventral, each of which houses a tri-linked heavy laser. The three lasers can fire in rapid fire mode to attack strike craft, or combine their three beams into a more powerful strike against capital ships. Only the Redemption retains these heavy lasers, later ships were either built or retrofitted to carry tri-linked anti-photon beams instead.
Each Redemption carries a pair of Angels as standard, though the forward cargo bay can be converted into hangar space for two more if needed, though obviously reducing the supplies the ship can carry. During times of war, a Redemption can house a single squadron of Cherubim alongside a single Angel.
