The first class of ship to come into service after all the issues with ion beams and VLS plasma technology were worked out. Two twin heavy ion beam turrets and four twin hellbore turrets make up the dedicated anti-capital armaments. These are supplemented by four guided torpedo launchers and three sextuple heavy cannon turrets with multiple ammunition types for use in different tactical situations. The Diplomat classes’ primary ASC capacity is provided by four light ion beam batteries and three twin rapid plasma cannon turrets. In addition to the standard quad-layer regenerative armour this is the first series of vessels to be developed in line with the new shield projectors, almost doubling the amount of fire a Diplomat can take before sustaining serious damage.
